  • Zipper problems

The zipper on my soft top rear window does not close properly, or at all for that matter. I can start the zip but the teeth never seem to line up properly and do not stay interconnected.

    Is this common?

Is this fixable? Will a dealer fix it? Can a third part fix it?

    TIA
    Bill

Also, Make sure you keep the zipper clean and lubricated. All the dirt from all the dusty trails we have can play havoc on the zippers. I lube mine with a dry Teflon spray. Works great and I have had no problems
      Check out .

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out in more detail this weekend and give it a try.

Yeah I lubed it with WD40 before I even started. I need to look for that dry teflon spray as I don't really like spraying WD40 on the top.

On my old soft top, I actually used an old candle the lube the zipper tracks...worked great, water-proof (won't wash away), and doesn't collect dust.

Anyone know where I can get the zipper Sliders? Hope I don't need to get a new rear window, can I even get just the rear window?

You could probably buy a rear window on ebay, or keep an eye out for soft top parts.

You might also check with a local tailor. We had a soft top repaired once. They did a good job at a reasonable price. They might be able to put in new zipper.

you could try the cobbler in the mall, they have the big sewing machines, heavy thread and they do repairs all the time, I've had them fix leather tool pouches, toolbelts, all kind of stuff.
