  • brake light problem

My drivers side brake light won't illuminate when the brake bedal is compressed. Yes, the passengers side lights up fine; As well as both hazards, turn signals, and running lights.

    1. I have installed a new bulb.
    2. I have swapped out the passengers side bulb for the drivers side.
    3. I have inspected the connections to the light bulb socket.
    4. I have checked the fuse box.

I'm stumped here. Any help for me?

Not having a wiring diagram, I was curious if the brake switch has two wires out. Apparently not, according to this troubleshooting article. Must be a problem farther back.

I recently had a problem like this. My tail lights worked fine for brakes, hazard, turns, but not on the running lights. My mechanic traced down a wire that was drilled through and split when my rock sliders were installed (by someone else). So, if you've had any other work done lately you might check that out.

make sure it is grounding properly. Looking at my Haynes, it looks as if all the wiring goes from Drivers to Passengers, so any problems before the drivers light, would also affect the passengers.
