Have any of you ever had the lever that engages your four wheel drive stop working? I brought it into a mechanic, and he said that it was a gromett, and he replaced this little piece of plastic. Anyway, it is still loose, and I have to get under the jeep and pop it back into place every time I want to put it in or out of 4wd. Have any of you had the same problem, and do any of you have any solutions? Bye the way, it is an '01 xj.

yeah i have the same problem... It probably was those piece of crap gromets (I hate those things) Ive replaced like 3 so far and have to replace some again. You can order and install the shifter kit from Novak it will eliminate all the stupid linkages and gromets from the stock setup.|90 XJ|4.0|AX-15|NP231|RE H&T|TnT Y-Link|RE Coils|BOR Leaves|ACOS|D30/Aussie|8.8/ARB|35" Kevlar MTRs|Custom Exo,Sliders,Bumpers|

Another solution is to replace with advance adapters or skyjacker transfer case bracket, gets rid of the body side attachment and it will shift better. I went with the skyjacker route 2 yrs ago and am completely happy. The stock assembly is prone to break or malfunction.

The 231 was installed today. I'll take more pics tomorrow including the "sweet" Novak shifter set-up.
