What was GM thinking when they got rid of manual hub locks!!!! I've temp. gone from restoring my beloved CJ, to fixing a 90' wangler for my wife. The newest edition to our Jeep family is fine, except for that damn vacuum motor on the axle(WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!!!!). I need some help with this one. The YJ's got 164,000 mi. on it, if anyone has info(vacuum diagrams, how long this motors's last, etc.)it would be greatly apreciated!

GM???
anyhoo...
just take the axle shafts out of the YJ and install TJ shafts. The TJ's do not use the disconnect thing and they have the dana 44 size u-joints. You will not notice any difference in milage of any ill-effects.It's not what you have. it's what you do with what you have.

I hear these things suck, some guys replace it with a manual pull shifter (speedo cable style under the dash). FYI- I just talked to one guy who got all frazzled on the setup cuz' the axle wouldn't unlock. Wound up being the ball bearing style valve in the t-case. I have the same thing on my yj and a simular setup on my K1500 (the GM vs. gets really slow with age).
