Just did it! I must report it works great, all I had was a MINI 30 fuse. :-) Never liked having to put in the clutch. THANKS this is an alltime cheap fix!

    Clutch Safety Interlock

I think it only became mandatory in the 90's to have the interlock. We ran into this a few years ago shortly after I got the Jeep we went to the Big Bear Jeep Jamboree. The guidebook said to use the starter without touching the clutch to help your jeep over an obstacle. Lo and behold a bunch of us newbies lokiked like morons banging dashes, furiously turning keys with absolutely no result. Anyhow its a safety feature to save us from ourselves and save D/C from warantee work on roached starters

I don't have to depress my clucth when I start my engine. Is that because the fuse or all YJ don't have to do that?? or it just something that previous owner done to the jeep?, it was bone stock when I bought mine...

    manual trans tj must read

i was just reading in the jp mag about a trick for the 98 to present tj's with manual trans. there is a way to "fix" your jeep so that you dont have to depress the clutch to start your jeep... and we all know that can come in handy on those steep inclines where you just cant aford to roll backwards
anyway.. all you have to do is put a 20 amp fuse in the #20 slot behind your glove box. thought i'd share..
    hope this helps someone
Working...
