Spotted a 1995 Jeep on the lot, All stock except for 31 inch tires, straight body, and new tires and rag top. What are the strenghts and weakness of this year of jeep. Noticed it had leaf springs, but are the axles strong weak? Any opinions would be appreciated, they were asking around $7500 for it. Evidently it been mostly a street jeep. It has the 6 cylinder with the 5 speed.

things that cross my mind as con are: Its a YJ! lol
It's OBDI not OBDII
dana 35 rear end
leafed
crappy interior being a yj
look for a 97 tj. i bet the price is very close.
OBDII, better electronics, WAY DIFFERENT machine
coiled suspension
more interior space
better drivetrain
late late late 97 even came with a 44 option i do believe
better looking interior.
just a few things that pop into my mind
my 97 tj vs the yj i had... man,.. that yj put a bad taste in my mouth.1st batch TJ bought August of 96. Locked and Loaded!

1995 is a great year for the YJ. It does have the weak D35 rear axle, but so does the the 1997 TJ that everyone is boasting about below.
The price for the one you mention below is very high unless it has like 50 miles on it. Other things you did not mention:
Miles
Auto or Manual
4 or 6 cyl
Buy one from a private party.DesertYJ
29 Palms

I have a 92 wrangler, basicly the same machine as a 95, and my friend has a 99 wrangler. The main differance I've seen in them is the suspension, the TJ is leaps and bounds over my YJ's, its amazing what his stock jeep can do, that my lifted one can't.
Also for $7500 you can find a nice 97 with fairly low miles, and not freeze your a$$ off in the winter, my 92 only books for around $3000 by the way, so if your looking for something cheap, look for a private party YJ
The inside of the TJ is nicer, the top is nicer, the body is nicer.... you get what I'm saying.
so basicly unless you plan on building this thing into a complete trail jeep, and upgrading almost everything, look for a TJ
