  • UNLIMITED driveline vibration?

Have a 2004 Unlimited and was wondering if the longer drivshaft on an unlimited allows more lift before you run into driveline vibration

I am not much of a wrench but here and other sources have told me that lifting a TJ over 1.75 inches startes getting you into the heights that cause vibration in the drive shaft due to increased angle.

It would make sense that a longer drive shaft (ie the Unlimited) would allow more height before starting to vibrate.

Anyone with any experience in this or just your thoughts

    thanks~Steve

From all I have heard about the LJ you can get away with more lift without having vibe problems. Being a Jeep, there is no set number

You should be able to get more lift w/o the driveshaft problems.

I've got 4 1/2" of lift, on my unlimited. RE long arm. I did have to change the driveshaft because it got too short. If you are not going long arm the vibrations will be minimal with the stock driveshaft. Just remember to point the pinion properly, that helps a lot.

thanks....that's what I am thinking, Fabtech 2.5 adjustable suspension lift with 31/32's

              Who's lift did you use?

What size tires are you running?

Any other issues related to the lift that you ran into?

              Thanks

rancho rc, stock for right now
and the trans (auto) skid hits the front ds with 4" of drop left so i orderd a skid row one. other than the skid it rides nice on the street and still has good flex off road.
