  • oil pressure?

I have a somewhat stock 4.2 that I bought rebuilt about 2000 miles ago. My question is what is normal oil pressure? the gauge reads 40 at the exact center, and 80 at far right. usualy once warmed up it will idle at about the 40 mark, but reved up even at cruising speed it reads just below 80 and sometimes more. It has a new sending unit so it should be accurate.

What type of oil pump was used and what type of oil?

My owners manual says 13 pounds as minimum and 20-60 warm is normal.

Check it with a manual gage.

That seems a bit high. You want a minimum of ~6psi per thousand RPM. I second the idea of verifying the pressure with a mechanical guage to eliminate the possibility of a transducer or electrical problem giving you a false reading.
olllllllo <--- If you can read that, roll me over!

Price is soon forgotton, quality is not.
