  • Centering Axles

Next weekend will be putting the new coils on the TJ. Since I am going to be setting pinion angles and all that good stuff its time to get those axles centered properly. (Yes I have adjustable trackbars front and rears)

For the front I am going to be measuring from the back of the C's to the frame and making sure both sides are equal.

On the rear, I will be measureing from the brake backing plates to the frame.

Sounds good? Any tips/experience/wisdom to share to make things easier (not sure they can get much easier)?

    Thanks
    Michael

Generally what I do is take a 4' piece of 2x4 or a straight edge and hold it against the outside of the wheel vertically. Measure from the outside of the tire {or 2x4} to the frame. It also helps to have a come-a-long handy to rachet the body back and forth until you get an equal measurement.

I like the idea of the 2x4. I don't have a come-a-long but do have a C-130 aircraft pallet ratcheting cargo strap that has worked great in the past
