tranny leak

i have an 86 cj7 with the inline 6 and t-5 tranny. somewhere it is leaking tranny fluid (red) pretty badly. and i think it is between the transmission and transfer case. how would i fix this? would i drop the transfer? if so could i drop it without dropping the transmission? thanx in advance

Its probably the tranny or t-case seal. Take out the t-case and replace the seals.
