cant figure out how to turn off my 4x4

hi everybody i cant seem to turn off my 4x4 it goes to part time and it wont go back to 2 wheel drive and i cant figure it out at all if some one could help me with this please reply thank u in ad

my light stays on...if the shifter is in two wheel drive, and the light stays on...youre ok, its in two wheel drive.

maybe your linkage needs to be adjusted?

My YJ did the same for a while it took a shifter adjusment to take care of it.

i see cherokee, but does it have the vacuum disconnect?

Erik has a point... and what year? Type of 4x4? Shift on the fly or the older part time/full time style?

I have an 84 Cherokee Chief.. and I always have to back it up after I shift the transfer case, both to lock it in and unlock it out of 4 wheel drive. Something to do with tension built up in the drive train...
