  • Excessive cranking required....

I've heard a few times that jeeps like mine (93 xj) take a little longer to start up than other vehicles....I dont mean like multiple tries...but more on the side of having to just hold the key longer on the first try...battery seems a LITTLE slow...but no where's near bad....and i just did a full tune up...(plugs, wires, cap&rotor, fuel pump, fuel filter) what else should i do to fix this problem??? If there even is a fix. Thanks for any thoughts.

optima battery and bigger battery cables might help a bit. I read that the reason it takes longer to start is the computer has to get info from the cps or something like that.

I've heard the same. Now I'm not sure if that still aplies to the 91+ engines. But for my 88 it needed like 2-3 rotations to set up timing and fuel, and some junk like that.
