  • TJ: how do I know if its a TJ?

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to this... I have a 97 jeep wrangler but dont know where to look to confirm that its a TJ or....

Also, does anyone have the instructions on how to change out the clutch safety ignition switch?

thanks a million and I really appreciate the info sharing on this blog!

If its a 97, its a TJ. A few fast and easy way to tell.

Headlights- Square = YJ, Round = TJ
Gas filler - If its behind the license plate = YJ, If it's on the drivers side = TJ
Suspension, Leaf springs = YJ, Coil springs = TJ
It was like that when I got here.

On my 2002 TJ there's a fuse you pull to disable the clutch safety switch if that's what your trying to do. Check the owners manual too, that's where I found the info for mine.

      Cheers!
