  • Transfer Case Shifter

I am posting this for a friend with a '97 TJ

He did a belly-up and motor mount lift on his heep that already had a body lift, now of course the x-fer shifting is f-ed up.

Question, are there detents in the cab shift lever that need to correspond to shaft position on the case or is the only detent action in this mechanism done by the internals on the 231 ?

He is trying to adjust his way out of this in time to do a trip tomorrow.
It is miles from me otherwise I would have my hand on it now rather than on this computer.

    Thanks in advance.

The 231 has internal detents. He should be able to adjust the shift arm with the adjuster sleeve. If the shifter handle is too short and is hitting the floor or the console you can weld in a section of round stock to bring it back in line

Yeah I remember. They are kicking butt in the TJ. Tied em together to get max air. So did your buddy get the T case shifter figured out?
