  • Soft Top Repair

    I'm looking for a quality patch/repair kit. I have a small 2" cut.

I have used Tear-Aid patches, in the past. They work well, but don't look great.

I ran across Cabriodoc, from Germany, on eBay. Does anybody have any experience with this product?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Pics of the repair would be great.

    Thanks Joe
It was like that when I got here.

I remember reading someone using canvas thread and sealed it with a little wax or shoe goo. Looked pretty good IIRC. I plan on trying it eventually but the Gorilla tape has been holding for quite a while.
    Check out .

I did a repair on a soft top using the iron on denim patches you can buy at a fabric store. Iron it on the inside to secure the cut and then hopefully your top is black, use black RTV sealer to waterproof it on the outside. Just use a small amount and work it into the fabric. If the tear is on a corner like some of mine, I just cut any ripped material off and used the black RTV like a second skin. If you have patience you can make it look fairly good.

I did this to my soft door and it worked perfectly for years. Iron on patch and done.

Well, I finally had some time today to fix my tear in the top. I decided to go with Kurt's (aka Rat) advice. It was cheap and easy. It looks pretty good too. Thanks Kurt.

lets suppose a person doesn't.... own an iron. How would this said person go about using an iron-on patch?

I've got a few rips in mine that I'd like to repair, duct tape ended up NOT being the permanent fix that I hoped it would be, haha! I don't particularly care what it looks like, just dont like having the rip there when it's raining (its in the back, so it's not bad)

Maybe superglue the corners, then put a heat gun to it?
