  • 4x4 Engage/disengage..

OK, I'm 110% confused now on using the 4x4 system in my jeep....since i bought it last year the guy i bought it from said engage while at a stop...not in park but the jeep must be stopped, same for disengaging...owners manual says at a slow roll its ok and no my g/f is looking for one it was a 99 so it had a diff system but the guy told me to engage it while on the move...it worked...so my 93....engaging and disengaging....should i be stopped or rolling slow??

    4HI, engage any speed.
4LO, either stopped or moving slow in neutral. It's usually easier when moving but sometimes you don't have that option.

I always put my jeep in 4lo when stopped or almost stopped w/ the tranny in neutral. I dont like the sound of gears grinding
