  • Machine shop lathe?

    Anybody got a lathe or machine shop that could take 50thousandnth off some thrust washers? Kevin 760-220-7113

      Surface grinder for sure. Any machine shop should have one.

        .050 is ALLOT for s'grinder to take off.
        Most only 'cut' a couple of tenths(.0001)at a time.

          Agree, but if washers already cut no choice. Change the stone cut hard then go fine.

            Well lots of thanks to Butch (My49Willeys) for turning these thrust washers down for me on his lathe. Toyota thrust washers were only .065 thick and I needed .080 to get my tolerance right for my new Aussie locker. No doubt that after 40 years the case was getting well used. Assemble everything, and came in on the tight side of tolerances. Took the old girl out and tested it in a wash and everything seemed to be working as it should. A little redneck ingenuity, and a locker I will go. Thanks Butch, Kevin.
