  • Thread fitting size (MV-50)

I have a superflow mv-50 onboard air compressor. It came with a air nipple already on it so I could hook-up a coupler to it. I'm taking out the air nipple so I can put a brass tee in the hole that will work with the lines to my lockers, I'm having a hard time finding out what size thread that superflow has on those compressor..... does anyone know what superflow uses for that thread size? Its diffently not your average thread.

I superflow customer svc, can't help. I would recommend, taking the nipple, to a good hardware store, that has a great selection. There's a place near me, that has a "bolt room". If they don't have what I need, they know where to get it. Look for a place like that in your area. Good Luck.
It was like that when I got here.

I emailed superflow but as of yet haven't heard back, maybe I should call. I've tried several hardware stores, auto stores, and even Aren rents...

It's most likely metric thread of some sort, pretty sure it isn't 1/4" NPT but I got that to thread into the cyl head of mine with a bit of persuasion. You could try a 1/4" NPT tap as long as you keep the cuttings out of the compressor head.
All the fittings you want to use are either 1/4" NPT or 1/8" NPT that's what ARB uses on their solenoids

It is metric pipe thread, remove the cylinder head and drill it 7/16" and tap it 1/4"-14 NPT and be done with it.

I did that to both of mine.

So it is metric.... will I be able to find a brass tee that's metric, or will I have to drill and tap? and are thos the correct drill tap size I would need?

Every thing I'm finding for the tap drill is only 1/4" - 20......... can't find the 1/4" - 14. Isn't that the threads per inch, just wanna make sure that I mess things up.

you have to look for 1/4 NPT on your drill chart

Ok new compressor installed, runs great, no air leaks that I can find, but tank won't fill with air and the guage stays at 0 psi. Also on the rear locker switch the light is out, but didn't think that would cause the tank pressure not to go up.......one more thing, the main airline that goes straight from compressor to tank sucks air. I didn't change the wiring, its the same pump has I had before and everything is hooked up the same, any ideas?

stick the gauge directly on the compressor see if it built's pressure

The main line from the compressor that goes to air tank sucks air?? I'm so confused:confused:

                        Edit

                        1/4" NPT is 18 pitch not 14

ok 18 makes more sense, well at least I can find taps that are 1/4' -18, I wasn't coming up with anything that was 14. I'm still sucking air from my compressor instead of it blowing air... is it possible that I have a air leak on the compressor, would that cause it to suck air. I sprayed some soapy water on all fittings and compressor and don't get any bubbles. Any ideas?

When you say this is a NEW compressor, do you mean NEW in the factory sealed box or new to YOU ?

If the first, it's defective, if the second, it is either worn out or has been violated.

It was new in the box (sealed) now installed in Jeep.. should of checked if it was working before the install. Runs fine just not getting air to tank.
