  • Los Coyotes Indian Reservation???

Hey does anyone know what the status of LCIR Is? There was a trial 4x4 run out there last year, what was the result of that? Are we going to be allowed to start wheeling some of the old trails out there?

    Jerry,

(This probably belongs in the Land Use portion of the Forum)

Here's what Roger Mullins posted to the JustRuns Yahoo! Group on September 30, 2011:

For those of us hoping to be able to 4 Wheel at Los Coyotes Indian Reservation
    again things don't look good.

A year or so ago, a firm called Eagle Rock Training leased the majority of the
reservation property. (The best 4 wheeling areas.)
Last winter/spring several JustRuns members helped Eagle Rock Training by
clearing trails that hadn't been used since the Reservation was closed to 4
Wheeling several years ago. JustRuns members also provided some 4WD
transportation and labor for setting targets in remote areas.

Eagle Rock then allowed JustRuns to hold an event on their lease. The event drew
over 100 vehicles. ERC also indicated that, from time to time, more "Special"
events might be allowed on a case by case basis.

Since this past spring I have not been able to get any responses from our
contact with Eagle Rock even after several tries.

Now it is clear why. There is a legal dispute between Eagle Rock and the Tribe.
The Tribe has given ERC an eviction notice and has claimed the lease is invalid.

Since LCIR used to be one of the "Premier" 4WD areas around here, it's a big
disappointment to us familiar with the trails. Looks like we won't be able to
Wheel there anytime soon... if ever .

Well heck that's very disappointing. Thanks Russ, let's keep our fingers crossed that can somehow be turned around some day.

I saw that article or one like it recently, that is probably what triggered my question.
