  • Wiring up my winch?

I have a Warn HS9500i and I was wondering what the correct way to wire it up was. Are you guys running the cables along the frame up to the battery? Mine go in-between slots in the grille and are in the same area as the driver side harness but on the passenger side. Where does the switch go?

I cover my winch wiring with a few short lengths of split garden hose where it goes around sharp edges or can rub against anything like the grill. It then passes under my grill and is then zip-tied along the way (next to the chassis) up to the battery. Mine does not have a switch, it connects directly to the battery as Warn recommends. Make sure the winch's negative lead connects directly to the battery's negative post, don't simply ground the winch's negative ground cable.

Thanks Jerry. Mine is ziptied every 6 inches or so insulated with hose where it's sharp and goes straight to the battery. I just wasn't sure if there was a "correct" way
