CJ: Windshield replacement

I am expecing my new windshield any day now. I've been researching (and talked to Chuck) about how to install it. I found this thread on a Jeep website: http://www.luckyoffroad.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2587

It. seems pretty straight forward and not complicated. I was wondering if there's a couple of guys here in the High Desert that would be willling to tackle this with me. This is definately not a one-man job. I don't like asking, but I could sure use the help and you can bet I would return the favor if you ever need any help.

Geeze Scott, that's a great deal! I wish I had known about that a week ago! I paid $295 (includes shipping) from Quadratech for the frame, glass, window gasket, & cowel seal. If I had an extra $100, I'd buy it in a New York minute!

I talked with Platnum4x and Friday is the day we're going to work on the windhield. I would feel more comfortable with one more set of hands. Is there anyone else who can give me a hand Friday? I would be eternally grateful...

Be very, very careful, don't press on the glass too hard as you install it, it can easily crack.

Eric, I don't think I need to ask, I think I already know! I studied the link I posted and the method it showed seemed pretty good. There's minimal pressure on the glass. Now I'm not saying nothing can go wrong because with me, anything is possible!

We've moved the installation to thurdsay morning.

Dang Roger....... I have a meeting this morning at 10am in Victorville. It should only last about an hour. I'll call you when it's over and see where you are on the install. I will definitely run out there after wards if you still need help....

Geeze Chuck, We're only talking about a windshield & frame here! I can't imagine anyone wanting to see photos of it. It's not like your total rebuild! Now that makes for some very cool pictures!

Thank you, I'm happy the 'po' boy' is trail ready again.

Oh, one last thought. If you ever change out a windshield, make sure you have a weight lifter working with you! It takes a lot of strength to pull the rope around the corners! (That would be Platnum4x).

Dont let the peanut gallery here phase your installation, the glass is tempered you can slap it all you want just dont bang on the edges, take your time.f you are roping it in it is a snap.
