Thanks Art. I'll give them a call this morning.

      Edit:
Dacco had exactly what I needed and it was fairly priced. They are very nice folks and Highly recommend them if you need parts for transmissions and t cases.

      Thanks Art.

I wish I could report that I had as good an experience getting the overhaul kit as I did with Dacco getting the planetary, but I didn't. Oregon Performance transmission, well, blows. Sent the totally wrong kit. No phone number on thier website or their invoice. Stopping payment now...

Damn, it feels like I put a shift kit in this tranny. It has never shifted like this. And I was planning on a shift kit. I took it for a test drive a little while ago in the rain and was spinnin tires everywhere. Never done THAT before. Well, back to wheelin.... :thumbs_up

So, this is the educational part of the show kids!
Whilst fighting with any number of gremlins in my driveline lately, I have disassembled the t-case four times and the tranny twice. This will be on the test later so pay attention.
DO NOT REUSE SNAP RINGS AND RETAINERS!!!!! NO! NEVER! EVVVERRRRRRR!ESPECIALLY IF THEY RETAIN A BEARING.
In this case it was the Tcase input shaft support bearing retainer. I reused it four times, and the last time it broke and I didn't catch it. So here's what happened:
When the retainer broke the bearing migrated backward toward the Mode fork. This jammed the shift range sleeve against the forward part of the planetary gear and in turn jammed the mode fork.
This prevents the shifter from moving into 2 wheel drive and nuetral, and in my case, it actually made the shifter shift the Tcase into 4 lo at highway speed. I'm sure this is a first and I will be contacting Ripley's Believe it or Not later. Thanks to my cat-like reactions I was able to stop the Jeep before I detonated the tranny and who knows what else. A quick trip to the tranny parts store and all new retainer rings are now in my tcase.
Learn from my mistakes becasue this one was a F__Kin doosy!

Tcase will be back in tonight and I'll test her tomorrow. Looks like Anza is still a go for me and the Rat.

Do we need a What Not To Do sticky?

Glad to hear all is well and you'll be up and running (forward hopefully) soon.

                            Cheers!

Murphy's law says fast is never good and if you want it bad you get it bad. Big time bummer Kurt goes to say to never rush this kinda stuff or you WILL be re doing it later.
