  • Parts washer fluid?

Anyone have any suggestions for a place that sells and accepts used aqueous parts washing fluid?

I can pick up a cheap Harbor Freight parts washer, but I still need to fill it. I'm working diesel parts mainly, so I'm dealing with a lot of black, black, did I mention it's black? oil. I'd like to have someplace in the LA area I can return the fluid for recycling, too.

You could check with Franklin Truck Parts http://franklintruckparts.com/ . They may sell and accept it? If not I'm sure they can tell you who does. They've been around a long time and have several stores in Southern Cal. Good Luck

Find a safety kleen dealer and use their cleaning solution.

Safety Kleen aqeous cleaner is awsome, but PRICEY! I've been using the M400 solution for 8 years. Cuts just about anything, and if you heat it, it will strip paint off of anything. But it's PRICEY! Ummm, did I say it's PRICEY? ANd getting the used stuff picked up will cost you too, if you go through Safety Kleen. There is a company called Blaese Environmental that used to pick up the large quantities I used (500 + gallons) on a monthly basis that was way cheaper than SK. They manifest all waste so you don't have to worry about them dumping it in the Santa Ana river...

Does it have to be all in the same place? If it's for home use, I would just jug it and take it to a hazmat recycling site that takes chemicals. Purchase solvent to the volitility you're comfortable working with. Personally, I don't like water based. I can't clean crap unless the fluid is hot.

Safety Kleen is awesome if you have the volume to justify their pickup/delivery-only service, but I don't.

Hard to find a place that will let you walk in with a drum of used cleaner and dump it. Autozone/Kragen won't even take used antifreeze.
