Never fails. You make the last payment and stuff starts breaking. Final payment made last month. First the AC knob breaks, next up it's the driver's side zipper on the uppers that won't zip and the interior dome light stays on sometimes. AC knob was fixed by a friend with JB weld and a piece of microwire tac soldered around the glued piece. when I threatended to find a tube of superglue(that would have been a disaster!) What next? Don't make the last payment if you can help it. LOL.

invert'd, I would have just squeezed superglue into that hole and shoved the knob back on. Maybe it would have work and maybe it would have been in worst shape. The zipper does not close all the way but rather sporatically as you zip up the window. Is it too late for silicone spray?2004 TJ X

Snapping an axle is breakage! A loose A/C knob is not!
A stuck zipper at work is a disaster, a stuck zipper on a Jeep window is not. (Well, unless it is winter time in Montana)SBCO Fire Dept. CERT volunteer

Of Course it does. They know exactly how long it will take before the car begins to disintegrate. So one answer is to keep paying the payment to yourself to continue to fix it or upgrade. Then make the repairs yourself and you save money and learn how the jeep works. I agree with you though, it does seem to be funny how that all works.... you dont buy the warranty for something like a camera or Garmin and the next week it dies......"If you have significant difficulty here, dont go any further....it only gets worse".

wow, if you post gripes about repairs like that I'd hate to see when you actually have to change a clutch or r/r your trans case, or repack cardin joints or god forbid have to do a power steering pump.
seriously though, making 300 dollar + - payments are substantially worse than fixing an ac nob. come on dude!
I remember when i first bought my tj. after 2 days of owning it, someone at a movie theatre decided to dump a can of coke all over my hood.
BRAND new, still had paper plates.
That was a blessing because it knocked out any bad mojo that would come upon me. my jeep has been SOLID since 1997.
Last car payment has zero to do with anything. You should be jumping up and down..... no car payments are the best thing in the world. I just jumped into a 2010 honda civic for mpg's and i forgot how crappy car payments are.1st batch TJ bought August of 96. Locked and Loaded!

As Mtbikbob alluded, in the engineering sciences, there is the concept of planned obsolescence. Engineers have fancy formulas to estimate the probable life-cycles of various components under various conditions. Ideally, major components (such as AC knobs, dome lights, and zippers) will fail simultaneously. It would seem that it is the beginning of the end for your Jeep. Since I could use it for parts, I'd be willing to give you $1,000 cash for it today. You could use that as a down-payment on a shiny new Jeep. I hear the knobs are much beefier on the JKs. Let me knowholes = cowbell

I paid off my Jeep earlier this year, but it had already been rolled 2x, almost lost down a mountain once, was in the middle of a major build, had huge holes cut into the tub, and has more aftermarket/ custom stuff on it than stock. I think that's fairly typical here. Yours is paid off (congrats), and is apparently pretty cherry. Time to rock that thing!holes = cowbell
