  • School Me - swaping wheel hubs on a trailer?

I have no idea how to do this. I'm looking for info, guidance, advice, wisdom, and perhaps a bit of commentary on the following:

I have a trailer with Jeep CJ hub bolt pattern (5x5.5 I think), and I need to change it to Jeep TJ pattern 5x4.5). The easy solution would be to bolt on a set of adapters....except I cannot find any. The usually go to's like Spidertrax do not make them. It seems no TJ owners prefer to be caught dead with CJ rims on their rigs.

So I may need to swap out the hubs. I have electric brakes, and a torsen axle (pic's below). I have no clue what all is involved in something like this. I value your input.

Chris, next time you see me, say, "Beer ME!" and it will happen.

      Thanks!

Did you notice at the bottom of the chart it says these will not fit ANY Jeep?

They're not going on a Jeep.

My guess is because of the hub bore size. I don't think this is an issue.

They always assume it's going over a front hub, so they use that as a disclaimer. If it will fit over the center flange of the hub, run it. Be sure to watch the thickness of the adapter and lug nuts. The 1" spacers tend to be cut shallow, so the nuts stick out and hit the mounting surface of the back of the wheel. I had to trim the nuts to keep from cutting deeper into the spacer. The 1 1/4" or thicker may be cut deeper. Just be sure to watch this. It's what I had to do on the 44 in my YJ.

Hopefully it will fit at least one Jeep.

Scott, they're going on a trailer, not a Jeep.

I know they are going on the trailer but Kurt was pointing out how the add says they will not fit ANY Jeep. I guess I was the only one who thought it was funny.
