  • Bought some Dick Cepek 130W lights

I bought some stainless steel 130w lights to add to my new bumper. Is this how you guys ran your lights?

I avoided the little red X with mine

If it's the classic Cepek wiring diagram with relay - yep!

Loved those Baja Lasers. Made a deal with Ryan Cepek many, many moons ago for a case of them, back when I was running the sand car - still had 4 left when I sold the car. IIRC I still have 2 on the front of the YJ.

Too funny. It worked when I posted it. Hummmm.

Good to hear. They sound like good ones then? $65 shipped seem like a fair price.

Sweet lights Ron, so now that the Jeep is all built up, when ya gonna run one of them fun fire roads with us.
Something like this ought to be fun. Also I wired the relai so that the ground circuit is interrupted by the low beams, this way you can run them with the lights or with the highbeams only.

I will post some dates next week. Would like to do one more run before wife is due

Front shocks (Bilstein) and lights are on the way. Ill post when done. Well hit some fire roads!

So, no toggle switch? When highs are on, the lights are on? How did you wire that? Did you use the highbeam wire (above diagram) as the switch wire? That would be easier no need to access the inside of the Jeep then.

It still has a switch, but I gave it ignittion power to
the positive side of the relay coil and the ground side of the relay coil I hooked up to the wire that makes the low beam light at the headlight, so as soon as the lowbeams are on the relay looses it's ground circuit and opens

I think I understand. Am I saying it the same way if you use the high beam wire as the switch power? So, when the high beam is turned on, it supplies power to the relay and turns on the fog lights. You know your stuff Art, let me know which is the best way.

Their way is simpler but you can only turn them on with the highbeams on. When trail riding at night with a group more light isn't always better, you start blinding the people in front of you

Ok. I follow. You can do hi and lo and fogs are off UNLESS you flip your switch in the cab? If that's true, then I follow how you set it up and that's how I was going to do it. But, then the other idea sounds so much easier. haha

The way I rigged it I can turn them on with the head lights off or with the high beams on. They will not come on with the low beams on, but i can turn them on and of with the dimmer switch when I have them on. Is great for mountain roads at night great vision and instant off when there is traffic coming the other way. Their way will do much the same thing I kinda modified it later on

Gotcha. I understand how you did it. Thanks for the help Art.

Do you have the 100w or the 130w?

Cheapo 100w;s works great on the trail and driving at night around Big Bear, you will be happy with the ones you got

Ok. Good. It was either those or Hid's. But, the hid's are a lot. Over double the price for one!! But, the hid's are only 35w not 55w. There is a difference. I have the 35w on wife's car (I will replace with 55w after they die) and mine is 55w. Big difference. So, I went with the 130w hoping it would be close to what I wanted. Researched showed a 55w hid is equal to a 110w bulb. So, like you said. I should be good.

I wired my off-road lights independent of the headlights. It gives me more flexability.
