steering locks up

oaccasionally when i just start my jeep up, it runs then the steering wheel locks up and i have to shut it off n restart it it, bad steering column?

Could just be the linkage for the steering wheel lock wearing out inside the column, or the keyswitch itself wearing. Pull the keyswitch out and inspect it.
