  • Wilderness First Aid training - Pasadena Oct 17-18

ATS is hosting a 2 day WFA class through NOLS on October 17/18 in Pasadena. I attended this same course 2 years ago. It is an outstanding program. I HIGHLY recommend going. The difference between urban first aid and and wilderness first aid is huge, and the WFA is an excellent program that will quite possibly save your life or those you love.

As outdoorsmen, we take risks of not having immediate medical assistance available. Knowing what to do, or what not to do, and how to improvise with what you have is of inestimable value.

    Go.

Something similar. SAR CITY is what its called, and its held the weekend before...October 9,10,11. $95 for the weekend, which includes meals and camping for tent or motorhome at Barstow Community College. With over 50 classes to take, it makes for a great weekend for the outdoor person. They have scene size-up in the wilderness, desert survival, hazmat training, AND A HAM CLASS.

I have taken my P.O.S.T. certified Man Tracking, night time navigation, auto extrication (they provided cars and we used the jaws of life to dismantle them!), bites and stings of North America, FATS (Fire Arms Tactical Simulations), and dozen other courses over the past years. Last year, they had a 4x4 certification course, that lasted all weekend.

EITHER OF THESE WEEKENDS WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US!!!

Sounds like a very good idea. I won't name names but I've been on the trail with someone that could really use some training like this. Everyone should do it. Thanks for the info.
