  • Popping Noise Front Axle

Anyone know why I am having a popping noise in my front axle every time i turn left and right? It seems to be coming from the front right wheel. Some said it may be my U Joint???

It only happens when i turn the steering left and right. Hope you can hep.

If it happens when you are stopped and turn the steering wheel, it should be fairly easy to track down . . . have you tried to have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you are examining the U-Joints, Steering, Control Arms, etc?

Yes, i had my transimission mechanic check it. He is not too familiar with that type of work but he is the one who said it sounded like the U-Joint. If it is that, is it something i can do myself?

Popping can be ujoints, control arms, ball joints, or loose bolts. Check 'em all. Ujoints aren't hard to do, and it's good to know how for trail fixes. You'll need a buddy to help check all that stuff. Makes it easier.

Another candidate could be the track bar end or frame mount.

I've got that too and it's driving me crazy!!! My junk is tight though. I think it might be coming from the steering box but it's nothing I can move by hand.

Check all that has been said above, and don't over look to check weld seams, especially the Frt. C.A. brackets.
