I don't have any issues with my back while off-roading. In fact, my back has nothing to do with wanting to switch back on recreational activities. I have ridden in the RZR's and used to race Banshee's before I got the Jeep....I enjoy them much more than Jeeping.

Competing is not for me, as much as I wanted to do it. It costs too much and she's too perty to crunch her all up. Not to mention I am adopting a child and going to be a mom soon. Plus, Jeeping just isn't the same without my brother. It's time for me to switch back to what I truly enjoy...riding quads.

I'm not saying I'm not gonna be around, I will be. But not having a handy man around to fix the DJ or check her out after a run, it's just too much. After I get her all fixed again, I may keep her as a fun vehicle but she won't be going on the difficult trails anymore. Whether she goes up for sale or not depends on how well Exxon treats me when they decide to pay out on the Valdez spill settlement.

        Julie,

I hope that you will still come out for the meet and greet. I'll swing by and pick you up if you want to hang out for awhile. And we all know that Jesse has been there for you alot, but you can always find some help with your rig. Plus, Jesse needs to get back on the trail, he's made alot of sacrifices lately. We miss him.

It is difficult since no one has a write up of the specs on my Jeep.
Wow! The manager just called from 4 Wheel Parts and said it'll take about 4 days to get the G2 so he's got some other Alloy in stock that would be stronger and better that he will send me. I asked if he could seat the bearings before sending it to me and he said he will do that for me. Sweet!!!
I'll let you guys know when I get the new axle and am taking volunteers to switch it out for me!! (local only please)
(my bro is tied up at work for awhile and won't have time to help out)
Hey, I know we aint met,but I will offer the services of our wrenches. My Bud Skip and I are both in the area and can be pretty handy if needed.See ya at the M&G or shoot a PM at me.

Its as much fun getting dirty as it is being dirty in a Jeep!

Update!!! Soooo, I finally get the correct axle delivered to me but they couldn't seat the bearings because it needed the backing plate from the old axle. Meanwhile I have been driving the DJ with the "clicking" noise for 2 months now because the 4 Wheel Parts guy said, "it's fine to drive and the clicking will go away once the axle is replaced".

I waited a few weeks for a friend to get the time to switch axles for me but finally got frustrated enough to just take the DJ into T & C and pay them to fix her...and to do it correctly this one time. Jason at T&C was very nice and patient with me, allowing me to talk to him and watch what he was doing.

Get this, the axle is not bent to the naked eye!! He pulled it out, rolled it on the flat surface, can not see any bends. He knelt down closer and says it does have slight bends here and there in toward the center but nothing that would be noticeable! He suggested changing it out since I had the new one so we did. Jason also said the axle is not what is causing the clicking.

So after the axle was swapped, I asked him to please adjust the OX locker in the other direction because it clicks worse since 4 Wheel Parts had it. He actually showed me how it is adjusted, something I asked 4WP's to do, but they didn't. Now I know I can adjust it if needed. Then, he took her for a test drive and came back shaking his head.

Yep!! Still has the clicking noise and he said he bets it's in the gearing somewhere. Sonofa!! So I watch as he takes the Diff cover loose and what a bitch it was to see the silvery oil dripping out...I know what that means. Now I am really pissed that 4WP's let me drive 3 hours there, spend a couple hours while they basically did nothing to the DJ, and then drive 3 hours back. Then drive her for 2 months to find out all it's been doing is more damage!! Turns out the main pin is broke and every time I let off the gas it unloads and pops out hitting my gears!! The edges of the gears are sheared off, but Jason said it isn't too bad and should be ok to just replace the pin. So, he jumps on the phone cuz it's already after 11:00 am, but no luck. Now I am Jeepless until sometime next week when he can get the pin and fix the DJ. He was nice enough to give me a ride home and will pick me up once the DJ is fixed.

Here's a picture I took of the pin popped out:

I only had my cell phone with me so wasn't able to get the gears in the back...

you always have to choose only 2 of these.
                cheap-fast-done well.

Julie, this was a free build up. even after the countless hours your brother put into it, you are still out a grand or less for thousands in parts and labor.

not to say it shouldn't have been done correctly the first time, but even with the grand or so you put out, you are still miles ahead.

I have given 4 Wheel Parts tons of chances with my Jeep and they have disappointed me every time. The only thing they did partially right was the build up & show, but even when I got her back my brother had to spend countless hours fixing things they put on wrong or left in the Jeep and never put on. I will never go to 4WP's again. The little shops here in my town, like Apple Valley Town & Country Tire, will get my business now. This pin would have been under warranty when I brought it back to 4 Wheel Parts in early February....now it's over a year and not warrantied anymore. However, I would never take the DJ back to 4WP's!

yeaaaaaaaahhhhhh. I wouldnt dog 4wp when you got that stuff free either. even with all the time you and your bro put in it. cant amount to the install and parts and celebrity time you got.

I would just accept it and move on. but not dog a sponsor---basically.

but I hope you get it worked out though. :2:

                    :2:

I know a lot of stuff was done to the DJ fast & half assed, they needed it to be done on tyme for the show. The part that is the RUB is the lazy way Jules has been treated since the build. I did correct most of the problems, including the purchase of a Rock Hard cross bar and the complete re-install of the rock hard cage. I couldn't let my sis drive a Jeep where the 5 point harness was just hung around the seats...

Enuff of that though, The show gave her a lot of sweet stuff and made the Jeep more than it was ever gonna be.

What Jules is pissed about is the fact that She drove it down to 4WP, told them what was going on, and they blew her off. They didn't fix the problem, they told her the drive line was bent, it wasn't they told her the axle was bent, it wasn't. they didn't even crack the rear diff cover, or take a sample... if they had just looked at the diff fluid and seen all that metal they would have known, and when she took it in to them the OX was still under warranty ... of course it's not now. It's not like Jules doesn't have a nickle to her name, if they had told her it would cost a lil $$ to fix it she would have said, "make it happen!"

Heck, she's payin' right now to get it fixed.

You would just think that a sponsored show vehicle like this would get a lil pride and attention from the shop that did the work in the first place- it doesn't have to be for free- but it should be made right.

'an don't anyone say she got it for free and should be all weepy and grateful inside. She has been plenty of that. This was an advertising venture that made money all the way around, I'm sure they got their moneys worth.

Just these parts alone would cost about $10,000. Even if you had to go back thru and redue the entire install, you would still be way ahead of everybody else who paid for their stuff. I'm just sayin', but the guys at 4WP, who watched you get all this free stuff might not be terribly concerned or simpathic about your situation. . . they probably had to pay for and build their junk too. I can understand not raving about the installation, but to publicly complain about a company that granted you and not someone else this type of honor and publicity is a real shame.

It's not whining to expect things to be done correctly, is it? These were professionals who did the work. Now if she had picked some idiot of the street then bitched that it was f'd up, that might be different. I sense a bit of jealousy?....

I'm sure that the 1099 for the whole retail cost was sent for tax purposes prior to the end of the year getting the work was completed.
