lock cylinder ?

my lock cylinder just pulls out of the collum now. i can put it back in to start it. but if i let it sit for awhile it kills the battery. when i shut it off i make sure the tack goes to 0, but it still must be putting power out. the blower fan shuts of to. it is a 79 cj5 nontilt.

I have just the opposite problem on my wife's saturn. Her cylinder failed and you can't turn the key. You have to turn to the acc position to remove the lock cylinder but hers is stuck in off.

Went to the dealer yesterday to get he a dealer cut key to see if maybe her key was bad.It was heavily worn. Came home with a very clean 2005 Nissan Maxima. I think it has every option they offered in it. It even has a heated steering wheel. Got home and the new key didn't work so know I will probably have to drill out the cylider or have a shop replace it. I think it dropped a tumbler.
