    94 YJ, 2.5 5 speed 4" lift on 10.5x31's.

Normally I tow about 100 miles out to the desert. The trip we will be going 300 plus miles. Is it ok just to put the tranny in neutral and disengage the diff? Should I pull the driveshaft? If so, how?

    Thanks.

Put the tranny in gear and put the tcase in neutral. No need to disco the drive shafts. This is out of the owners manual. I flat tow mine and haven't had any trouble.

I read that. Why put it in gear???? Which gear? The manual is not too clear on the details. I always leave it in neutral.

1st gear. It's the one with the most "authority" to keep things from moving around.

Oh yeah, also put the key in the ignition and turn it one click towards start. That unlocks the steering wheel.
