Jeep dies...

The ole Yeep runs great on the highway, but once the engine warms up it dies as soon as you stop. It idles fine when rolling to a stop but as soon as it stops it dies.

I changed plugs and air filter and ran some injector cleaner through, still doing it. It was sitting for 9months while I was gone.

What else to look into?

If it runs ok when you're holding rpms up a little above idle with the accelerator pedal but dies when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal, odds are it's just that your IAC (idle air controller) is simply dirty. The IAC is what feeds all of the engine's air to it at idle when the buttefly valve is closed.

You might be able to clear it by doing a thorough cleaning of the throttle body interior with throttle body cleaner. But better yet, remove the IAC and clean its plunger of the black gunk that has likely built up onto it as well as inside the oriface the plunger fits into on the throttle body.

The IAC is held onto the passenger-side of the throttle body with two small torx screws. Be careful not to strip them out as they are held tightly with Locktite. Use a good sharp torx-driver to get it out, making sure to hold it square to the torx-head and firmly into it so it won't strip.

Gently clean the IAC's solenoid-actuated plunger (kind of like a big needle valve in function) gently with an aerosol throttle body cleaner and a rag or a toothbrush. Don't push/pull/twist the IAC's plunger.
