  • Bouncing Speedometer

So I am driving down the highway today and all the sudden my speedometer start dancing around likes its at a 1970's disco. What would cause that? All the other gauges are working as they should.

Likely the plastic speedometer gear is not fully meshed with the steel pinion gear in the transfer case. Perhaps it is worn from not having had the speedometer gear housing rotated far enough to fully engage the gear if it has been replaced to recalibrate the speedometer.

Or the cable connection to the speedometer gear housing could be loose or have a dirty connection.
