    Just over 210 Degrees

    Hey all,

    My 2000 TJ Inline 6 seems to be running a bit hot. It doesn't overheat but it use to run at 210 degrees. After i did a 1" body lift (with new raised engine mounts) the engine runs past the 210 degrees. is that normal and should i be worried?

    I went to BB this week and did most of open trails with no overheating issues. Is over 210 my new temperature?

    210 isn't "danger zone" hot. When was the last time you flushed your cooling system?

      I've been stressing over this issue and I have come to the conclusion that 210' is normal. I run 210' on flat ground and a little warmer on climbs. I have a new all aluminum radiator, a high flow water pump, 40% anti-freeze with a bottle of Purple Ice added, and I have 4 10" square hood vents. Nothing that I've done has made a difference. I give up! Good luck to you, but as long as it doesn't go over 225'- 230' and then comes back down and you don't lose your coolent, drive it.

        Will hood vents make a difference in engine temperature? I thought that was just a function of the thermostat? I have vents and while the under hood temp is certainly cooler my engine runs the same temp. as before installation I think.

          The hood vents lowered the "under the hood" temp, but they did nothing as far as engine temp.

            Anything close to 210 is perfectly normal for '97 and newer TJs. In fact, they were designed specifically to run at that temperature so they can meet the federal smog law and state requirements more easily. No worries, it's running at the temp it should be.

                  I have a 94 YJ and it has run at 210 since the day I bought it. I did finally have to change the radiator last year because of weepage but even with a new radiator it stayed at 210.
