  • Bodys on the New Frame

I've been asking some YJ questions latley because I needed to replace the frame on Sues '93 YJ(I'm more CJ oriented). This is her fravorite Jeep out of the 4 she owns. Being self employed time is a rarity this time of year. We had picked up a 6 cylinder frame with a lift kit in it a couple of years back with the intentions of moving the motor mounts back but last summer the kid down the street sold us his YJ project for $500. which already had the mounts moved back, frame painted ,new gas tank, later model tub(which is going on my '84 CJ7),CJ7 hardtop and doors and 4.10 axles and 4 banger drivetrain. one evening I pulled the tub off the donor Jeep and I went out a few Sundays ago and pulled the body off the '93. I swapped the lift kit onto the new frame and swapped the rear axle from the '93(I bought the Goodridge stainless brake hose for a '93). Yesterday I pulled the engine/trans/xfer out of the donor and installed the '93 drivetrain. Today we picked up the '93 body and set it on the new frame using new body mounts with the 1" lift built in. Gotta hook up the wiring, make some new body mount plates(some of the captive nuts tore out in the tub), figure out a new rear driveshaft and should be driving it in another week. I'll post up some pic's when we get them loaded. I can use photo bucket on here can't I? Owning a crane made hoisting the bodys easy! I set nylon chokers around the family bars right behind the main hoop and girth hitched a 1/2" rope to the hook and tied clove hitches(backed by 2 half hitches) to the bars where they bolt to the windshield and picked the bodies complete-tub,fenders,grille and hood. Sorry for the long winded post but wanted to share the frame swap with you folks.

I used 2 8' nylon chokers secured to the family bar and girth hitched a 1/2" rope to the hook and tied it to the bars by the windshield with clove hitches secured by 2 half hitches.

A slightly different angle but you can see the added wheel clearance.
