MOtor oil in the engine......What ever is on sale, but mainly Castrol 10W30 10W40---the weather really never gets cold in So. Cal and the Jeep is my toy, so the oil really doesn't see alot of abuse.
I change the oil about four times a year, whether it needs it or not.

The diff's get Castrol hypoid gear oil--the Detroit doesn't seem to care

Castrol Synthetic in the engine, Royal Purple everywhere else.

You can get a screamin deal at Walmart for 6 quart jugs of name brand oil. Check them out before you shell out the big bucks at Autozone, Pep Boys or Kragen.

My diff actually had little plates on the side which showed the weight and amount recommended by the factory. Had to scrub them off with steel wool to reveal what they said, but thought it was a cool touch. I wouldn't recommend trying to keep those little plates on the diff once removed though . . . when I went to tighten the bolts, they bent all outta whack and looked like hell! Mine also take 75/140.

make sure you add the limited slip additive if you have a Rubicon, as it has both a limited slip and a locker
