Just take them off and they won't get faded or scratched. LOL and the Avalanche will be reefless!
          WILL WORK FOR JEEP PARTS!!!

All four of the flairs on my TJ had faded so bad that they were grey. Krylon flat black is what I used well over a year ago and it still looks good. Here is a pic that shows how faded mine were.

This is going to sound crazy, but I used some Baseball glove conditioner. It's all I had available. Although they look great afterwards, I'm not sure how long it will last. It's probably very similar to baby oil (at least, that's how it feels). I'll keep you posted.

Works awesome on the flares. When I bought my TJ last year, mine were almost white from 7 years of Ottawa winters. Two applications kept the flares BLACK until the road salt hit them in December.

I took a heat gun to the front two fender flares about a week ago and it worked really well, just be sure not to touch it until it cools back down. I'll being doing the back two today.

this all sounds like your trying to make trailer queens..... i used "steel it" stainless steel in a can. well thats what it is supposed to be, but all in all its just a really crappy spaypaint! ive done mine twice now in 2 years. dont go this route.

I use 'Eagle One Tire shine'. Don't know if it will work after they have already faded. But works great to keep the plastic from getting old.
Also makes a rag top look brand new.
