  • BFG at's any thoughts?

im thinking of getting those bfg at's tko's or something like that, they look nice and have a good tread pattern, are they any good? good wear, road noise? are they capeable off road? remembering that i do mostly mud boggin and not rock crawlin. these are in a 31x10.50 format

    thanks

It's an outstanding tire. There are better tires for each individual off-road purpose, but those BFG KOs are pretty close to the best for all purpose stuff. If you want more traction in the mud, you might want to look into the MTs or those Krawler ones.

Yeah for an all around tire, the BFG A/T is an awsome tire. I made sure when my mom got new tires for her 4runner it was BFG A/Ts. Great on-road, good in the snow and mud (im not saying a bog but decent mud), and from what ive seen pretty decent in the rocks. I've been with some people on some pretty difficult trails and they've gone everywhere right with me running A/Ts. just my .02

what kinda price range are you looking at? i love the bfgs but they are out of my range so i am going to go with a different tire. the tire i am going to get is a off brand but has ran good for years. so i am going to give the a try ans see what happens. oh ya and i can get them for a fraction of the the bfgs. don't get me wrong i love the bfgs just not the price tag.

How much do you save with cheap tire when you get a flat 30 miles from a tire store??

That happened to me once, two flats in one day and only one spare. BFG's have the extra ply in the side walls. I love'em

I don't if it's true for Costco but, Sams Club sells BFG's that have less plys then the normal ones. They are cheap but, you get what you pay for. I have Maxxis tires they are cheaper then the bigger brands and I have had good luck so far. Good luck on the tire search!

BFG A/T's have week sidewalls and are susceptible to sidewall cuts and popped beads. JMO but I've seen it on several different occasions.

I used some of the cheaper 35x12.50 (General Grabber M/T)tires on my rig for about three years and had some pretty decent luck. Granted a thicker side wall is what we all want but some of us cant afford the price tag. I paid 145 for each tire out the door mounted and balanced. Now lets look at a bigger picture here nobody has brought up. Where to buy a good off road tire for a decent price with a road hazzard plan (it happend on the freeway, it really did) that they will stand behind when you bring it in with all kinds of radical marks on the tread from rock climbing and a huge gash in the sidewall.

discount tire is a food place for deals. i can get any tire but my price doesnt get you anything. and it always has to be cash. for most of the people out there i would get tires at discount. also look at the futuras at pep boys they are a good tire for the price.
