  • CJ 7 suspension help!

Hi. I am doing a frame off restoration of a 1980 CJ7. We recently bought a skyjacker 2.5in lift kit but when we installed it and put the body on it, it looks like a 3.5. Their is no drive train in it, just the axles. Putting that extra weight in it could lower it a bit but I don't think it will do much. If any of you guys have a Jeep with a 2.5 inch lift on it, could you send me a couple pictures of it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Definately loosen the shackle bolts and then retighten them with the weight of the vehicle on the ground. This will help the suspension settle down. You will find that it will drop another inch with the drivetrain installed.

My 4" BDS springs took me closer to 4.5" When researching my spring choice, I remember most of them are taller than actual, to allow a little bit of settling that will take place after a month or so of use.

You will definitely settle down a bit once your Jeep is complete.
