You may want to go with a receiver style winch mount, then you can remove it for the super steep stuff... Anywhere you mount a winch is going to add a lot of weight, and I know a few Jeep and Sami guys who run their winch this way and switch it from the front to the rear as needed, it's a great way of redistributing the weight going up or down stuff! Just make sure if you go this way that the receiver mount on the rear is tied into the frame.

I didn't get a chance to start on it until late today.I plan on mounting a Mile Marker 12,000 lb winch on the front and the Ramsey REP8000 winch, that was given to me,on the rear. I cut a piece of 6" channel steel(1/4" web) 50" long. 2" down from the top I 45 degreed the ends,I notched the top for the rear body mounts. This will slip over the original rear cross member.I have 2 lengths of 5/8" by 2" bar stock that will bolt to the outside of the frame rails(3 grade 8 1/2" bolts per side) and pass through the original cross member. The 6" channel will be welded to this bar stock. The 5/8" bar stock will pass through enough so I can hang shackles on the ends. There will also be 2 bolts per side from the original L-brackets on the inside of the frame(once again 1/2" grade 8 bolts).I plan to weld the Ramsey winch plate to the 6" channel so that the mounting surface is 2" down from the top of the channel.I cut two 1/4" gusset plates to go on the ends of the winch plate and plan to put 2 smaller 1/4" gussets under the plate.

Well, here is where I got today.Bumber itself is pretty much welded up.I need to ad the 2 1/2"x 2" stubs i made for the shackle mounts. The main mounting bars i ended up making from 1/2" x 2" bar stock. http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/ga...500&userid=384
