You could always do flanges on stubs with flanges on the cross-bar between them like the crossover between coilover hoops. If it did get tweaked you could just use a long aligning punch to pry them back into alignment.

Someone on pirate suggested using rod ends, like a thick suspension link. I think I'll do that It would be adjustable, and I would only need to undo one end, and then just swing it out of the way. I could bolt one end, and put a 3/4" thick hitch pin in the other end.

a bit more progress on the cage. Got the upper C pillar gusset in place, and notched the additional C pillar bars, I'll weld them tomorrow, had to cover up the jeep for the rain tonight.

The flat bar mockup (which happened to be JUST the right length, hah!) connecting the lower part of the C pillar will be removable (it'll be round 1.75" tube, with adjustable heim rod ends) so that I can still get the spare tire in and out, and still use the rear of the jeep to haul an engine, or a transmission, or whatever if needed. This will be the only removable part of the cage.

I've only started working on the rear part of the cage. This is my first stab at a cage, so I'm definitely doing some learning here. But I think I have the basics down pat so far.

However, .... I'd love to have a seasoned offroad vet teach me how to do this shit I'm not wanting to die early Trying to soak up as much info as I can! I'll have to start bending stuff next... that'll be interesting, hah! I'm confident in my welding, and I'll have more triangulation than most cages out there, so I think it will take care of me

When you do the X over the driver move the intersection of the x close to the B pillar. Will give you more head room and doesn't hurt strength.

Yea, I'm going to have to play with that. I'm thinking about bending them upwards slightly to give more head room. As it is now, it will be kind of close to my head. But the seats will eventually be almost 2" lower, so that will help too.

For the X, would you start it in the corner where the B hoop and overhead A pillar meet? Or keep it entirely on the B pillar hoop?

In before the rain! :-D It just started to sprinkle as I put the tarp over it.

It doesn't block the rear view mirror as much as I thought it would. Visibility through the mirrir is still real good. I think rear seat head rests would probably block the view more than the tubes do.

Rolling CJ style with no A pillar or header bars for a few days until saturday when I start on the front of the cage.

Got the rest of the rock-hard bolt on bars removed. If anyone knows of someone interested in a 2nd hand rockhard setup, let me know. The header bars are thicker than factory as well, I think those were poison spyder. Looking to get rid of it.

I'll be friendly with the price if someone picks it up locally. All the hardware included. I apparently didn't do a good job painting it, because surface rust has started to show up in the paint after about 5 years, so it will probably need to be repainted unless you don't mind a bit of surface rust.

I drove my willys around town with no windshield for a few weeks. It was fun, but gets old quick. haha

I've got the A pillars mocked up with the upper factory door seals in place so that I know the soft top will fit on properly. I headed home from work a few hours early today to get that done, it may be wrong, but it feels so right

I'll burn the A pillars in saturday morning, then get to work on the seat mounts to the cage. Then I'll work in figuring out what I want to do for the triangulation above the seats. I want an X of some sort, but I want to make sure there is sufficient head room. So I'll wait until the seats are solid mounted before I start playing with those designs. Since the seats will be in a different position.

The mount points for the rear of the seats will be easy, just a straight bar across the base of the B pillar, just skimming the transmission tunnel by 1/2" or so. That's a no brainer. The front mounts, I'll need to start bending tube. I've been dreading this part... but it's almost here, time to get the learning on

You'll do fine. Remember to a pipe diameter to the length of your tube for notching. if you want i can run your front seat bar thru Bendtech and give you exact dims for bending
