• Teardrop trailers

Last week the wife and I went down the hill and looked at these:

http://www.socalteardrops.com/

Wow, are they ever nice. Great craftsmanship and very functional. Look at the Krawler. We only do about one or two trips a year camping out of our Jeep, but one of these would really be nice. One of the problems my wife realized was that the kitchen ends up being pretty high for her. The regular size teardrop is perfect.

It would be neat if they had rentals, but they don't.

You might also look into a Boler, or Scamp type trailer. I have been using a Boler for a few years and love it. It is sure nice to be able to sleep through the night no matter how windy, or cold it is outside

It has a kitchen, porta pottie, and room for 3.
It weighs in at apx. 900# before you fill it with all of your crap.

Well, when she is standing in the rain and cold with the wind gusting by blowing the sand into your hot dogs, I'll be saying it looks like it tastes gritty.

It is old, but smells like fresh berries and coffee

To each his own. From my personal experience with this trailer, it is a great way to spend a night in the desert.

If you need new, look at the Scamp-

$8-9k is too much to justify spending for 10 weekends a year.

I've been looking for a Boler since I saw Eriks. His seems to handle great on the hwy as well. Something light the Jeep can tow around, and never sleep with the tent pushed in my face by the wind again.

Rich,

That tear drop looks to be an exact copy of the trailer my dad's company built in the 1950's. He was part owner of a company called Benroy. Their mfg facility was in Burbank.

BTW - all summer I have been restoring a 1951 14' trailer to tow behind my Jeep. It really won't be for off roading so to speak, but rather for a base camp set-up i.e. Calico, Ballarat, & Means Dry Lake type camping.

Here's another option: http://moby1trailers.com/default.aspx

And if you can wait a little bit, this project looks real promising. To be sold in kit form:

I love the scamps. I had a chance to buy one cheap and had to pass.

They rent them on Pendleton for $11 a day. The Scamp II I mean.
