  • finally ill stop stealin mitch's air.. (OBA time)

well.. i picked me up a York 210 last week..
    and.. now.. the install begins..

my question is.. to the best of my knowledge.. no body makes a bracket or install kit for the XJ..

fred (flatout) and I talked about this in great length the other day..
But pretty much came to the same conclusion.. MAKE IT FIT!!.. lol

I got an idea on how I think I might install it...
But would love to hear from my FAV. jeepin community.. on what they have done.. seen.. think.. etc..

    thanks guys

    Hey there Josh,

I mounted my tank under the jeep just in front of my fuel tank and the compressor in the jeep just above it and it worked out perfect for me. Not sure what kind of space you have under the XJ but that's a thought.

Can't really help you on the bracket. I bought the kilby one. I'm the lucky one that only needs the $28 flat plate bracket. 97 4.0L w/o a/c.

I will give you a tip on the fittings on the head of the York. Do not spend the huge amounts kilby wants for the ones that are NPT threaded, simply buy a NPT tap and carefully tap them for a fitting. I did this and it worked great. I think I paid $8 for the tap at Ace instead of $40 for the "rotolock" fittings.

Also, I found the intake air filter on grainger for a little cheaper than kilby:
          Housing
          Filter
          Coupler

EDIT: Just remembered I had some pictures of my taping on my site: http://jeep.matandtiff.com/projects/oba/

Make me one? Are you ditching the factory A/C and putting it there?? I always figured on moving the battery inside the cab and using the space where the A/c and Batt. used to be to mount the york and hopefully a ghetto-homebrew OBW
An XJ will always cost you less then any girl ever will, and you will always know when the spark is gone.

sorry.. been pullin 15+ hour work days.. so I havent been on MJr for a few..

have not got a solid plan on installin it yet..

But YES KEVIN... AC will not be deleted..
if i wanted to be hot and un-comfortable.. id just buy a TJ..

but looks like best plan is to relocate battery.. which is fine because I was gonna ad a second one.. so ill just stack them in the back..

Second idea is to move the alt. to the other side of the engine.. and stick the york in its place..

Once I get it figured out.. in a way that bests suites my needs and fabrication talenet.. lol.. ill post it up..
