  • $20.00 Tow Bar Needs Bumper Brackets

I bought this 6,000 lb rated tow bar today at a garage sale:

A close up shows where the bumper bracket would go:

Does anyone know if these can be purchased anywhere or do I need to have them fabbed?

If I need to have the brackets fabbed, I know they need to be deep enough to allow the tow bar to "hinge" at theis point. Any recommendations as to how deep?

Also, I assume it should be bolted to the front bumper where the bumper bolts to the jeep frame. Should there be two bolts for each bracket & what size?

One last question, the tow bar was bolted to the bracket with 1/2" bolts nuts and lots of washers! Any ideas on a quick Disconnect?

If anyone is interested in fabbing them up for me, please PM me with a cost.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I should have looked online first! I see they are available but seem pricy so if anyone is interested in making a few bucks let me know!

    You been pm'd Roger.

1/2" Clevis pins should work for quick disconnects.

I just got these in that mail from quadatech, they seem really simple. Probably could be made easily.

I'm a long ways from you but would happy to make you a nice set of mounts that will fit any standard disconnect.

Cool guys! inVERTed will be fabbing them for me. I guess that means a wheeling trip in the near future down Anza way! There is a cool trail from Anza to Anza Borrego. I wonder if it's still open????

If you're referring to the Turkey Track Grade that goes from Anza to Anza Borrego State Park and Coyote Canyon, yeah, that's open Sept. 30 to June 1. Unfortunately, the Grade was graded a couple of years ago and it's still quite a bit tamer than it used to be. Anyway, I'd figured on mailing the brackets to you, but if you'd like to come visit your old hood, there are plenty of trails around here.

Now look what you've started, Roger! I guess we're gonna have to wheel now!

I'm very interested in the wheeling trip this generated! Anza, Anza Borrego, Ocotillo, etc. are all amazing places!

All righty then, let's see what we can plan!

David - I never actually lived in Anza, I owned 2.5 acres that we camped on. I can't remember exactly the road name it was on.

                          Got the Brackets!

inVERTed made the brackets and shipped them to me. Today in installed them.

I elected to remove the bumper from the Jeep to make it easier to drill.

Here's the bumper off the Jeep, brackets mounted, & fresh coat of paint:

Here's the bumper mounted back on my Jeep:

Next I need to look into how to hook up lights for towing.

Thanks Dave for the very nice job. Looks as good or better than "store bought". It was nice to help out an unemployed Jeepin' brother for sure. A "win-win" situation for the both of us.

If you dont want to get to fancy, you could get some magnetic tow lights from Harbor Freight or Pep Boys ..
