  • Schmo Fab!!!

I've been armoring up over the last few months, but noticed some clearance issues after installing my F&R Nth/AEV Diff Sliders.

In the front, there was very little room between the Diff Slider and my Skid Row Engine Skid.

So I put my new grinder to work and chopped a bit.

After getting back from Calico, I noticed that the Rear Diff Skid was grazing the Drive Shaft. Luckily I caught it before it seemed to be a problem (I've had the Jeep up to 80 MPH and no vibe so I'm not going to worry about it!!!).

So again with the grinder I got to chopping! I used the two drain holes as corners and then ground it all out nice and smooth and gave it a coat of paint. I only gave up about a half inch of protection, but gained a ton of clearance.

Good to see you're starting to get the hang of doing this kind of stuff. Looks good.
One suggestion; don't grease those U joints so much. The seals on the bearing cups are there to keep dirt and some water out, but when you push grease through them it compormises them. The bearings don't need more grease than can fit in the cup. Also, it will stop that mess in the skid plate too!

One small cut is where it starts. then cut the fenders off.

I was a bit surprised too . . . looked down and was clockin' 80 . . . the Jeep felt good . . . I still had some power to spare. With 33's my Jeep's on-road manners are much better than stock. I'll have to drop down to fifth a few times heading up the Grapevine, especially if I lose momentum, but have no real issue keeping up with traffic. That may change a bit when I go to 35's when my 33's wear out.
