  • Home-built Hi-Lift Jack Mount

It seems to me that so many bolt-on Jeep parts are way to expensive. I've been thinking of a way to mount my Hi-Lift Jack on my hood for way less than the cost of comerical fabed brackets. I Google searched for ideas and I found this:

Sure seems like a great idea. I think I may build one like it.

Dennis, I think you should fab-up three! One for your CJ5, your CJ7, & one for that CJ7 out in Lucerne Valley!

Actually this project is right up my alley - this plan is a "bolt together" project. No welding required!

True it's an easy bolt up,but I was think'n that a 3 bolt bottom welded to the cross part and weld the bolts that hold the jack would be strong, and a great learning start for MIG.Since my welder is out in LV I see no reason why I can't do 3

                    Roger,

You can use mine for a pattern if you need. Mine has never rattled or moved. Check it out at the meet and greet.

Okay, I built it, it cost $2.00 USD. I had to buy two 3/8" bolts, nuts, and wing nuts. It is strong. There is no movement what-so-ever. It's fun to do do cheap worthwhile projects.

I am going to make a change, I have the angle iron facing the windshield, so the hood is just shy of being high enough to safely put the hood rod in it's hole. The handle hits the top of the vent. So I'm going to turn it around facing the front.

I have one other important change to make, I need to install the mandatory MJR decal to it I bought it at the Meet & Greet!

I'll post up some photos after I make the changes.
