an older ford alternator is even easier no need to take it apart to disable the regulator, the thing with the welderator is you will have to run it besides the regular alternator, but the idea is good and it will work

I had an old 80 amp alternator from a cadillac on my old Bronco. Great for trail fixes. This mod has been around for a long time, and it works. Never ran Lo-Hy with it, only 60 series.
