  • Rubicon Lockers

    Does anyone in this group know about a wiring modification that converts the lockers on a 2006 Rubicon to work in 4 wheel high? Right now it only locks the lockers in 4 wheel low.
    I have a customer that wants to use it in 4 wheel high while playing at Pismo.........

    Yes, in fact I did just that....
    I have an 06 LJ, so the harness should be the same..

    There are 4 options.

    1. Any speed,any T-case position
    2. < 10mph,any T-case
    3. < 10mph in 2H and 4H,any speed 4L
    4. Toggle switch has to be flipped

    After removal of the dash and the plug itself, take the harness and as you look at it, from the 'socket' side of it (as if you were the switch), the pins start in the upper left as 1 and go horz to the right (2&3), and continue on the bottom left as 4 thru 8.

    1= Ground
    2= Panel Lamp Feed
    3= Fused power
    4= Locker Enable Signal 1
    5= Locker Enable Signal 2
    6= Rear Locker Request
    7= Front Locker Request
    8= Not Used
    It works off grounding the enable signals.
    I personally did the following,
    I used a lighted switch to connect 1 to 4/5. Meaning that 4 and 5 were bridged together to the switch.
    This option allows the 'any speed/T-case pos' with a safety switch. Switch on= lockers available whenever I hit the stock switch.
    Yes, the switch still remains the same action, one down=rear...down again=front..down again=front off...up=all off.

    Now thinking back, on the lighted switch, it might have been back wired, meaning the + was on the ground part of the switch, and the grounds actually went through the positive side. Try the switch out on a power supply first, then put it in.
    If you want to use a regular switch, obviously you can, but I like to know when the 'accessory' is on.

      Hey David . . . wasn't it just a week ago that you were talking about doing these types of Jeep electrical jobs as a side job!!! Could this be a sign???

      Hey Brett . . . I'm not sure if David's post was Greek to you . . . I could only get about 1/4 of the way thru it! Send you customer over to David and I'm sure he'll offer them a great deal as part of his Grand Opening Extravaganza!
      That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

            Thank you David,

            I owe you a favor or......... A six pack ?? I will be doing more runs with MJR this year. I ditched the 4x4 club that I was in for 14 years because of reasons that I wont explain here. I do like everyone on MJR because all here have a great attitude.
            I really appreciate your help.
            I do own a 4x4 Off Road Store and can get you all on MJR great deals..... Sometimes I cant compete with others but I will try to help. I have helped others in this group........Just ask around......
