I just read the feature on the detroit ez locker kit that was put in to i belive a tj, im not sure if its a great method of locking a rear diff but it is possible to weld the whole spider gears and such together, then the back is fully locked, but its also perma locked, so i just figured i would toss that out there see if it helps anyone out, just tryin to share my limited knowledge thats all

I'm sure somebody is going to tell you that the weld will weaken the gears from the heat... here's my thoughts... If you want to do that, get a spool, or at the very least a mini-spool... I don't think they're as expensive as a locker for a mini-spool.
If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

To weld the spider gears, means to not turn on anything other than grass.. That is, if I'm reading what you say correctly. We weld the spider gears on our full sized demo derby cars, because we run on mud, and the tires spin the whole time. If you were to try and turn on street though, you'll snap an axle easy as pie.
